Farewell to Manzanar Summary
Farewell to Manzanar is a book about a Japanese American family that is brutally removed from their home. This family of six had their own father taken away in suspicion that he had helped in the bombing of Pearl Harbor. The rest of them were transferred to a Internment camp called Manzanar. There they lived in barracks all lined up in rows one after another. The camp was in the middle of a desert, which makes for long days and nights. The wind blew dust constantly forcing the family to sleep with wet cloths over their mouths. After a while papa comes back to the family. The little girl goes to school after returning from Manzanar and she finally is going to understand what it means to be Japanese in an American world. And her world was about to get even better and she didn't know it as Manzanar is finally shut down. -154 words
